So, if you haven't heard already, Real Racing 3 is on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
The game looked unbelievable in previews and it's "free" so I downloaded it the day of release and it's a big game. When I started playing it obvious why it's so big. The graphics are on a par with Forza Motorsport 3!
So I went to leave a review expecting to see a sea of 5 star reviews, but the vast majority (that I could see) were 1 star reviews tearing the game apart.
A couple of examples...
JCRocky5 - "...I'm being forced to spend my own money just to race or buy a new car, what happened to just buying a game outright and having fun?"
Random User 54321 - "...progression is beyond tedious unless you pay the extortionate in app purchases..."
They all seem to be saying the same thing. That you have to pay to race, or you are being forced to pay to repair your car, or to buy a new car, etc...
Now, I'm not so sure that these people have the same game I do?
I've been playing and almost completed three event series. I've now got two cars and enough virtual money to buy a third car. In total I've spent exactly £0.00 on in app purchases.
I can see that the purchases are there but I didn't want to spend money on them... so I didn't spend money on them. I just got on with enjoying a great racing game.
The time shifted multiplayer is completely awesome too. You race in an event and post a time. Your time then get's posted to your friends who can race against your time and vice versa. I've been racing my little brother constantly trying to better each other. It's actually really fun.
Now, why can't people just play the game? What is all the commotion about?
